10:45 am update--- There is a lull in the intense thunderstorms over land... But there are signs of still strong thunderstorms located north of Maui Co over our coastal waters and near Kauai. Deep tropical moisture remains over the islands bringing clouds and rain along the island chain and it has the potential to continue to impact us. An upper level trough near the islands is helping to spark locally heavy showers and thunderstorm to pop up today for parts of the state. Expect conditions to improve late Monday and Tuesday, when a more stable trade wind pattern will return. But until then....we still need to be prepared for pop up thunderstorms later today. Right now... Overall a -break- into the rest of the morning and likely early afternoon for most everyone especially Oahu and the Big Island... (But some Mauka & interior locations over the islands can still see a few showers hanging on)... But overall transitioning to a calming period before another round can fire up. Ill have to continue to watch the thunderstorms sitting over the coastal waters of Maui Co the next several hours along with a cluster near the Garden Isle. Be. Safe!
