10 Commandments of a false “contextual” teacher that is either - TopicsExpress

10 Commandments of a false “contextual” teacher that is either of Native descent, or wants you to believe he/she is of Native descent. 1.) “Thou shalt find a Native ancestor in your family tree no matter how many genealogical websites your have to scour.” Presenting an image of being Native is vital to many of the adherents/proponents of this “Indigenous Movement”. Since most true Native people are not so easily deceived by this movement, many wannabes have grown ponytails, bought some regalia, and have self-identified as Native peoples. A couple of easy telltale signs of these wannabes is the prominent display of their ponytail in every picture they take which projects an air of authenticity (in their mind anyway). I have also noticed they love pictures wherein they are gazing across a landscape in a sort of stoic Indian stance. No gathering would be complete if they didn’t don some sort of “authentic” pan-Indian regalia, and burn some sage or sweet grass. What images!! Wannabes project a disconnect from their dominant European heritage that is probably the most mysterious of all, but not impossible to figure out. Somewhere in their indoctrination process, they bought into the notion that the only way to reach Native people with the gospel is to first tear down the “white man”. One has to hope that somewhere in the deepest recesses of their conscious they had to have wrestled with that concept (at least momentarily). But once the hurdle of their conscious is overridden, they too began an assault on their own dominant heritage. They might have had a small audience when they solely preached the gospel, but now they pack the auditorium whenever the make “white people” the object of their derision, and extol the virtues of Native culture and religion. Thank goodness we have solid leadership in place that offers a clear refutation to counter this obvious corruption and deception.
