10 JAN 2015 - PEANUTS STORY - JANUARY 2015 CAMPAIGN Peanuts beautiful mum Callie was surrendered to us when her owner went into a full time care facility and there was no one else to care for her. Callie surprised us one morning with an unexpected litter of kittens. Sadly mama Callie got very sick after the delivery and we had a fight on our hands to keep her and her babies alive. Callie and the litter have struggles with cat flu from early on and baby Sylvester, sadly, crossed the rainbow bridge. Rosie, Orchid and Peanut fought on bit its been a tough road. No sooner did we start to get the flu under control but they were hit with a naty case of ringworm, and then another dose of the flu...despite frequent vet visits and the best care possible. Peanut has now developed major lesions in his eye threatening not just his vision, but the whole eye itself - likely as a result of Feline Herpes. We had him rushed to the specialists at Animal Eye Care who resected the membrane which had grown over his eye, and we are now playing a waiting game, managing his eye according to strict instructions and hoping for the best.
