10 REASONS THE LORD LETS HIS CHILDREN WALK THE LONESOME - TopicsExpress

10 REASONS THE LORD LETS HIS CHILDREN WALK THE LONESOME VALLEY I will fear no evil for Thou art with me --Psalm 23:4. The Lord has not promised His disciples a painfree life. Far from it. He allows us to experience the same sufferings or worse as the world. But there are vast differences. Here are some of HIs purposes in allowing us to suffer.... 1) Some glories are seen only in the darkness. Without the night, we would know nothing of the stars, and how poorer we would be without that. 2) He needs us to know that He is sufficient. 2 Cor 3:5. He may let all the other props be knocked out from under us to enable us to see that He is enough and we are still standing. 3) He wants to get our minds off the flimsy, the shallow, the temporary, the perishing, and onto the eternal, the glorious, the genuine. See 2 Corinthians 4:18. 4) He wants the world to see the difference in a godly person and them. This child is Exhibit A, He tells the outside, watching world. This is how he/she will be handling pain. Watch closely. 5) Pain and suffering have a way of refining us. The Psalmist said, It is good that I was afflicted, that I might learn to fear the Lord. And the writer of Hebrews said, No chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it (Hebrews 12:11). We must not run from the pain and suffering, but learn to endure it. For the joy set before Him, (Jesus) endured the cross despising the shame (Hebrews 12:2). God is honored when His children show the world the blessed, victorious difference He makes in our lives. Look at that one, Jesus says. That one is mine! (see Job 1:8 and 2:3. It does happen.) (second 5 reasons next time)
