10 Reasons Why Dr. Pellegrino Needs to be Fired! As WETCC president, Vince Pellegrino is up for his 90 day job review. In an attempt to avert scrutiny from concerned Council of Trustees (Lois Olson, Joan LaVoy, Mike Neusser) we have learned that COT Chair, Betsy McDougall and Pellegrino have or are trying to remove the above listed COT members. For anyone who does not know the full story about Pellegrino’s corruption and incompetence here are 10 reasons why he should be fired: 1. Firing Native faculty by violating WETCC Personnel Policies – missing renewal deadlines, giving no reason for firing and reneging on a renewed contract with faculty member, Mark Anthony Rolo. 2. Promoting Emma King to Assistant to the President and reportedly giving King a $20,000 pay raise while the school was under a budget freeze. And King does not even have a two year degree. 3. Promoting Alissa Schultz to Registrar when she only has a two year degree. Promoting Meredith McArthur and Anna Bjerk to Co-Financial Aid Directors when McArthur only has a two year degree and Bjerk does not have a degree. This is significant because the Higher Learning Commission has cited the college for having staff in positions without the proper degrees. This is a sure way the college will lose accreditation. 4. Pellegrino has destroyed the college community and created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation for those remaining at the college. 5. Pellegrino has harassed students Dianne Kier and Jasmin Larson – cutting off emails, sending threatening certified letters and wanting staff members to ask them to back off their protest against Pellegrino. 6. Pellegrino lied to the Tribal Council by asking them to approve a new liberal arts program that initially gutted Human Services, Education and the Ojibwe language. Only after student protest did he reinstate programs and our language for credit. 7. In collusion with McDougall, Pellegrino was recruited, not interviewed for the position of president. There were no interviews for qualified candidates. McDougall recruited Pellegrino, in large part, to protect the job of Academic Dean Ann Brummel because Brummel and McDougall’s mother are in a romantic relationship. 8. Pellegrino fired Native faculty out of retaliation because faculty questioned the illegal hiring of Brummel and her job performance. 9. Pellegrino has allowed McDougall to be involved in the day to day operations of the college in violation of COT rules. McDougall administers the college Facebook page and website. 10. Pellegrino is going to cost the college and tribe money because he publically slandered fired faculty. The faculty is bringing a lawsuit against Pellegrino and the college.
