10 STUDY TIPS TO GET READY FOR FINALS. 1. Figure out what’s covered – Ask your teachers what you can expect on the final. Also, find out what materials you can use on the test (i.e textbook, notes, calculator, etc.). 2. Manage your study time effectively – Put off unnecessary obligations to free up study time. 3. Study in chunks – Study for 20-50 minute periods of time and take a small break in between, don’t cram. 4. Study in different locations – Changing where you study can help your retention. 5. Don’t Panic – Try to keep yourself calm to avoid blanking when the exam is front of you. Also try to avoid large amounts of caffeine; it can add to your anxiety. 6. Exercise – Exercise is a good way to get your blood flowing before the exam. 7. Sleep – Getting a proper night’s sleep before the test is important to keep your mind clear and focused. 8. Start with what you know – If you start studying material that you already know and add more difficult material it can help associate the new information with things you already know 9. Try to make the material interesting – Incorporating the material into something you enjoy can drastically improve your memory on the test. You can also use fun acronyms to help you memorize information. For example, in math you can use PEMDAS (Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally) to remember the order of operations. 10.
