10 YEARS OLD SUICIDE BOMBER- GOD HELP US. EACH time I read the atrocities being committed by the Boko Haram insurgents, I take a look at the little girl who lives with me and whose innocence is written all over her face and I wonder, suppose we lived up north where these hoodlums are causing havoc, and suppose she had been kidnapped like the Chibok girls, how would I feel and how would I cope? This is why I am perplexed by the handling of the situation and the bungling by those concerned. One minute we are talking about getting the girls back home safely into the waiting arms of their parents and guardians, the next there are talks of money changing hands and squabbles about who got what and who should get what. Because of this abject incompetence, the most unimaginable scenario is now being played out – these angels of satan are now deploying female suicide bombers in quick succession. The youngest so far being just ten years old! The 10-year-old girl, Hadiza Musa was strapped with explosives when she was arrested alongside two other accomplices Iliya Dahiru (male), Zainab Musa, 18, by Nigerian security forces in Katsina last Tuesday about 10:00 p.m. on Zaria Road, Tudun Wada area of Funtua metropolis. This is very frightening. It is frightening because these victims (that is what these girls with impressionable minds are) fall within the age bracket of the Chibok girls. As many have speculated, I tend to agree that the essence of the kidnap in the first place is gradually being played out for us to see. “Grab their children and use them as sacrificial lambs, to be roasted while killing as many people as possible in the process.” The Federal government and all those involved in the rescue mission (if there ever was any) should cover their faces in shame. They have waited too long and by their inaction, have placed the lives of these girls on the line. Haba! There was initial denial, then reluctant acceptance and then inaction. What is 100 million Naira (shared 100,000 and in some cases as low as 7,000 Naira) compared to the lives of these children who are without doubt the heroines of the ineptitude of the Nigerian state? Our value system is simply warped (or how would one describe the scramble for the pittance from the government) and that is why we cannot seem to find solutions to the myriad of problems confronting us on a daily basis. If indeed it is the Chibok girls that are being deployed for these satanic attacks, then the issue of indoctrination does not arise. Do they have any choice in this matter? Does a person in bondage have a choice when the abductor decrees an issue? These girls are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea, either way they are doomed. If they manage to escape or they are eventually rescued, the psychological trauma will be forever etched in their memories. Can they live with it? Only time would tell. Thankfully, it is just a matter of time before we know for sure if these female suicide bombers are the Chibok girls, the dead ones can be identified through DNA test, while those arrested can be identified by people who know them. A ten year old suicide bomber? What does she know? Only God can help us.
