10 books that have affected my life - more in a timeline that matches my own timeline of growing up - thanks Annabel . Im not sure if any of my other friends or family have already done this, but would love to experience the world through your eyes and minds. 1. Put me in the Zoo - Robert Lopshire 2. Little House on the Prairie Books - Laura Ingalls Wilder 3. Mans Search for Meaning - Viktor Frankl 4. On Death and Dying - Elisabeth Kubler-Ross 5. Siddharta - Hermann Hesse (have read all of Hesse) - this was as a teenager - was informed by my German professors that Hesse was really not a great writer or thinker, but he appealed to my 14 year old self. :) 6. Crime and Punishment - Dostoevsky (read all of Dostoevkys work in high school & college). 7. The Day of the Locust - Nathaniel West 8. All books by Taylor Caldwell - even though she was a prolific popular fiction novelist, there was an incredible undercurrent of reality that was quite shocking and insightful with respect to American culture. Was good to read during my breast-feeding of 4 babies years. If you dont get the breast-feeding connection, it means that a woman sits a lot in order to feed a baby :) It also means that the reading has to be somewhat light so that you can put it down and pick the book up again without having to think too hard about following the train of thought. 9. Mark Twain Biography - Alfred Bigelow Paine - great insight into creativity under duress 10. For Your Own Good: Hidden Cruelty in Child-Rearing and the Roots of Violence - Alice Miller ** This is the book I recommend most highly to anyone. Once a person grasps the contents of this book, you will get it. **
