10 most influential books -- read all the time, including backs of cereal boxes :-) Cannot imagine how people can say they dont have time to read. Thanks for the challenge Norma Bruce: 1. King James version of Bible -- shapes my language and worldview, essential for understanding literary allusions. 2. Shakespeare -- love of language 3. Love biographies -- Corrie ten Boom, Wilberforce 4. Love books about the old South (Gone with the Wind, etc) 5. Love historical books about the Western expansion of U.S. (covered wagons, Donner party, personal accounts of pioneer women, etc) 6. Love books about leadership and the presidency 7. For relaxation -- historical romance (Sarah Sundin re: WWII, etc) 8. Analyses of culture/faith/family -- Ross Douthat, Charles Murray, Mark Regnerus, Brad Wilcox, etc 9. Most recent couldnt-put-it-down -- Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand 10. Anything about rhetoric and public address (from Aristotle to James C. Humes Standing Ovation, to Allan H. Monroes Motivated Sequence to contemporary writers about current speeches.
