10 years ago, I moved my whole family to Scotland, it caused a few tears on everyone’s behave, as we left family and friends behind. But I did it, not because I wanted to be Scottish or forget I was English, I did it because I wanted my children to have a better life! I remember driving over the bridge when we first arrived off the plane and smiling and knowing I was home! My children have benefited from a better education here, where they went from 32 in a class to 18 with a support worker too, they received one to one teaching when they needed it which they never received in England! We have fantastic countryside, beaches and culture, which is what life is about. I’ve met lovely people up here, not all Scottish but Irish, Welsh, English and lots of other countries too! I do not see people from where they are born, what colour skin they have or what language they speak, they are in my life because they are nice people! My life changed again 3 ½ years ago and I’ve been fighting everyday to bring myself back and make my life acceptable. I work in a stressful environment and earn under £15,000 a year, but I’ve worked and worked to buy my own flat, car and put food on the table for myself and my youngest son. I have very little money left after doing this and believe me it scares the living daylights out of me at the thought of the separation of the two countries, not because of being separated from England but because of the economic suicide by doing so. I do not have another 25% spare expenditure to take that chance that the YES voters are saying is scaremongering. I know where I stand at the moment and struggle, if the banks and supermarkets do as they say they are going to do, then it’s obvious the impact that will make on my pocket – Petrol will go up, shopping will go up, mortgage rates will go up etc etc! So please tell why would we do that to ourselves, for what? So we can say we are independent – woopy doo! I want to work to live, not work to survive, I want holidays and to go out with my friends and family – If you don’t have 25% extra in your pocket to pay for that privilege then you’d best hope people see sense and vote no too! I LOVE SCOTLAND AND AM PROUD TO LIVE HERE, PLEASE DON’T MAKE ME REGRET MY DECISION!
