10 years ago, next week, I had a bilateral lumpectomy to remove lumps from my breasts. At the time I didnt know if Id live to see Summer and I was terrified and sad. I took the recluse route and then when I got well, I flipped my world upside down...relocated jobs, disconnected from many, and got closer to a few. I learned during my illness who was really my friend and who wasnt. Its during health crises and death that we learn who is really true. We also discover who was always in our corner that we failed to notice. My besties health issues have uprooted a lot of feelings from that period of my life. Its also showing her the same thing. Its funny, some of the people we think are really down for us, arent. And some people were always in our corner that we failed to take the time to notice. True colors always shine through. Some blind us...and some cover us in colorful love. This whole thing is making me see people more clearly in even my own life. There is a gift in everything...even the bad shit. #gottastaypositive #besomeonesrock
