10 years ago on a clear day like today I drove the little Suzuki up the Blue Ridge Parkway to take some flower shots, parked her at an overlook and put her in gear because the emergency brake didnt work. Well, after a short hike i came back and the car was gone. Nobody around. Stolen. Luckily, i went to check the other side of ridge and it turns out the drive shaft linkage broke and slowly at first, but gaining speed, she rolled back, crossed the parkway and went over the edge. A thick stand of old growth rhododendrons finally stopped her, but there she was, and its hard to tell how steep it was from the photo. I tried to drive her out, but only had the front wheels with traction, and that wasnt going to do it. I called the tow truck and he winched her out. Luckily, no one was driving by when she went over the other side. All in a days adventure!
