10 years of remembrance. The greatest tragedy that struck my country in modern time occurred on the other side of the world when the tsunami swept away 543 Swedish tourists and injured 1500 in Thailand on 26 December 2004. For us it was a national trauma that left few personally unaffected. Still another 250000 lost their lives. May they rest in peace.5 millions became homeless or refugees. On the weeks that followed the fellows of Round Table International showed their hearts and capacity. At the time a prospect member I was astonished by the compassion and generosity speedy aid was raised and effectively dispatched to our brothers, mainly in Sri Lanka, for trustworthy relief on site. Years later, at the first RTI World IRO:s meeting in my hometown Landskrona, I had the honour of meeting with the tablers from Sri Lanka who received and distributed the aid. Learning about their gratitude, but even more so their efforts to distribute in dire circumstances, was the first but certiainly not the last time I grasped the real power of Round Table Community Service. In all the tragic meaningless, this is was also for the good. I think this is a suitable day for all tablers to stand tall and commend ourselfs for the good community service you keep doing all over the world. I am very proud to serve as your community service officer this year. Making a Difference
