100 DAYS SINCE COUP Yesterday it was 100 days since the appointment of Yatsenyuk’s government. We have fully experienced the “European democracy” in action. Mass media censorship, political repressions, a terrorist operation against our compatriots in the South-East... The list is being extended. The new “authorities” also have economic “achievements”. Our country is under the yoke of the IMF. Loans are received, but it is unclear where they go. The dollar exchange rate has risen by one and a half times. Petrol prices have jumped. Gas and electricity tariffs have grown for Ukrainian citizens, whereas most energy companies are private. Obviously, oligarchs are trying to return money spent for the Maidan. Prices for food have surged by two and a half times on average. Prices for medicine have been more than doubled. A similar situation is observed in the social sphere. Childbirth benefits have been cut. Earlier, the country paid UAH 30,960 for the birth of the first child, UAH 61,920 for the birth of the second child and 120 living wages or UAH 123,840 for the third and every consecutive child. Now, after the adoption of the government bill, the benefit will be the same – UAH 41,280. That is, benefit for the second, third and every consecutive child will be reduced by UAH 20,640 and UAH 82,560 respectively. These are just a few figures and facts. But they show: the situation is deteriorating, the Ukrainians are frantically trying to survive. They spend over 50% of their income for food as compared to 10% spent for the products by residents of England or Austria.
