100 Days In Office: Nggilari Lists Curb Of Boko Haram Among Achievements: As the administration of Governor Bala James Nggilari of Adamawa State reaches 100 days in office, the state government has listed its achievements to include the containment of Boko Haram activities. Other achievements of the administration during the period under review as published by the state owned weekly newspaper “The Scope” include the administration’s success in tackling Boko Haram insurgents, strengthening of government’s institutions and containing victimisation across the state. The report reads in part, “He has taken away fear of Boko Haram. Has reduced noise making and lies in public office to the barest minimum and has strengthened government institutions to a level that now governance is more felt and louder than individual political idols. “He is correcting abuse of public office and flagrant victimization of the previous administration”. The paper noted that despite the daunting challenges faced by the governor occasioned by the dwindling federal allocation, he was able to give a good account of himself in the last 100 days in office. “Amazingly, like a Samson with the jaw bone of an ox, he (Nggilari) silence the plethora of these ugly challenges headlong”, the paper said. Meanwhile, a cross section of Yola residents interviewed scored the government low in the area of projects execution adding that even the ongoing projects that were initiated by the previous administration of Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri are being carried out at a very low pace hence the government was nick named “go slow government”. A resident of Yola Mr. Habibu Ali wondered why some of the road projects awarded by Fintiri’s administration are still dragging on months after the incumbent administration came into effect. “100 days after, the road projects started by Fintiri could not be finished causing traffic snarl and unfathomable hardships to motorists, “he said. Another resident of Yola Mr Peter Yohanna also accused the governor of double speak saying that the same governor who claims to have recorded success in the war against Boko Haram insurgency was ironically the same governor urging INEC not to conduct election in the state because of Boko Haram threats adding that the governor simply has a hidden agenda for making such calls. “I wonder why the same governor who claims to spend stupendous amount of money in curtailing Boko Haram’s further incursion into the state leading to the liberation of about 5 Local Governments is the same governor who is now advocating for the suspension of election due to security threats. “I believe the governor must be dancing to the tunes of powerful forces who are not disposed to the conduct of election otherwise I could not see any reason for the double speak,” he added.
