100 YEARS AGO TODAY..... something amazing happened: On Christmas Day 1914, opposing WW1 soldiers did something astonishing and unprecedented... they dared to meet in the hell of no-mans land, shook hands and exchanged gifts. Google Christmas Truce. The establishment were furious that this happened!! In the 1980s Paul McCartney made a song Pipes Of Peace about that moment. Its simple yet profound peace message, a poignant and relevant reminder of the insanity of war. It seems so perfect to play this today. Note the tablas (2:19) - a hint at the influence of Maharishi from the Beatles days perhaps? To me, this song has the Masters message written all over it... ;) I sometimes wonder if, 100 years on from The War To End All Wars, we have made any progress at all towards a peaceful world. But lets hope so, and lets keep on doing what we can - until the work is done.
