100 Years Ago - October 5, 1914: Drawing Supervisor of Adams Public Schools performed an unusual feat of going over the entire distance of the Mohawk Trail on crutches yesterday. He made the trip with a party of friends who are staying at the home of Mrs. F.I. Wilder of Myrtle Street in Adams, and was one of the least fatigued members of the party at the end of the journey. They left from this city at 8:30 oclock yesterday morning and had a very enjoyable trip, returning home last evening by train. In 1914, the Mohawk Trail was considered to be between North Adams and Charlemont. The road from Charlemont to Greenfield was built prior 1914. Here are some photos of people enjoying the trail. All were taken some time in the 1950s.
