1000 Words - Monday Collective As William Shakespeare once said, “All the world’s a stage.” Barnstaple’s town square is the choice of arena for The Monday Collective, a company with two shows at this year’s festival. In their evolutionary take on people watching, the performers ask of you to pay close attention to what’s going on outside the window of Lilico’s, which frames the narrative of 1000 Words. The show’s entertainment value comes from the expressions of the passers by who have no idea they are walking through a performance until they see several people staring at them through the glass which separates them. Despite the crafting of several short stories by the cast members that form the structure of the show, it is the unpredictability of who will pass the window next - and the skilled improvisation of the narrator that makes this show impressive. You get out what you put in to the interactive performance, so participate, anticipate and activate your thinking caps.
