#100happydays catch up! Friday 7/18, Day 65: Its always a good feeling to help someone come home from a nursing home or hospital and get them safe doing their ADLs. I had a good staff education day today, doing just that. It helps me remember why I chose to be a COTA. Saturday 7/19: Whew! A long but productive work day helping the same resident do her home exercise program. Its sort of a rare treat to see someone in the CD population recovering from a serious surgery, especially to see them regaining their strength and abilities this well! Sunday 7/20: Big Church Sunday! It was really interesting and fun. First I watched Mass on EWTN at 7:00 a.m. Then I took a resident to church and heard the same scripture text again, from a different perspective. Good stuff! Next stop was Broken Chains church, a small church that reaches out to people who often feel alienated from traditional churches. Lots of young people go there, and they have a kicking band. And surprise! The whole congregation from Turning Point Church came to BC because the 2 congregations are supporting each other. Turning Point is a very traditional church. It was beautiful to see young and old, rockers, bikers, skaters, former addicts, and folks in suits and ties loving one another and stretching their boundaries! Last stop: St. Als, where I heard the same scripture from a 3rd perspective! All goid, all thought-provoking.
