101 years ago, activist Emily Davison was critically injured pulling down the Kings horse in a race. Her death galvanized the Suffragette movement. The Suffragettes pioneered many techniques used for civil disobedience to this day: hunger strikes, demonstrations, attacks on art exhibitions and disruption of public gatherings, causing Scotland Yard to develop modern surveillance and interception police techniques.
