10th March 2014 ; Barcelona fan group Boixos Nois have reacted to claims that they attacked defender Gerard Pique following the defeat to Valladolid on Saturday. Spanish radio station COPE reported on Saturday evening that Tata Martinos side were verbally abused by their own fans after the shock 1-0 defeat to Valladolid and further reports claimed that members of controversial fan group, Boixos Nois, had thrown coins at defender Gerard Pique. An estimated 3,000 fans were in Valladolid to see their side slump to their second defeat in six league games, leaving them in third place, behind Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. However, Boixos Nois have released a short statement responding to the claims on their official Facebook page, saying: The Boixos Nois are to the death with this team. We trust that his slump will end and we can only look ahead. The media will always try to mess our name. We encourage all of our players and our coach. Video footage of the incident is in possession of the local authorities who will aim to identify if any object was thrown, and detain the culprit.
