11/07/2014 Dear Friend of Thursdays Child, It is with great humility that I write you to request a financial contribution to Thursdays Child. As the year is nearing its end, I find that in order to continue our direct financial assistance efforts to our families in need, I must turn to you for help. Our grant funded programs are, I am proud to tell you, exceeding their expectations. Out HIV+ Early Intervention Service assists those newly diagnosed in a compassionate and committed manner. Our Suffolk County funded AIDS Services Access Program provides a supportive grounding to enable our families to continue to access their life-saving medical care. I turn to you today because the requests for assistance rise dramatically during the Holiday Season. Our friends at our partner agencies are also requesting our help: Is Thursdays Child going to offer our patients food assistance for Thanksgiving? Is Thursdays Child able to provide for the children this year at Christmas? The answer is yes! But to what extent depends upon you! We here at Thursdays Child experience the same increases in costs as everyone else; our electric bill, our insurance, and rent - we must pay for those and we are enormously grateful to Suffolk County for their help. But as HIV and AIDS continue to affect thousands of Long Islanders and people world wide, I ask that you take a moment and if you can afford it, then to please write a tax-deductible check to Thursdays Child. Little of our work gets into the papers these days - mostly by design as we would never ever reveal a clients name. I assure you that our work continues daily. Calls and pleas for food, for clothing, for new beds, for help with keeping the lights on and the heat; weve helped our clients obtain birth records, drivers licenses, and sadly death records as well. Please consider donating to Thursdays Child as you ponder your end of year giving.
