11/09/2014 Spitfires 1 - 4 Hurricanes Goals- Toby 3 - a birthday hat trick -) William 1 Effort award - birthday boy We set up with a game plan today as we felt Spitfires would defend high up the pitch and that might allow Toby and Lewis pace to exploit any space in behind them This went to plan as we scored twice in the first half and really should have had more. We started the second half poorly, conceding 1 as Spitfires created chances to score, it took some great last ditch defending at times to keep them from scoring again. We were really under pressure at this stage, to score the next goal was vital, fortunately we did so making it 3-1 and putting a bit of daylight between the teams. Spitfires didnt give up and played some nice passing football. Kyle hit the post with a great volley and Roberto was in great form in goal as Spitfires were unlucky not to pull one back. Hurricanes kept going too and eventually sealed the game with a typical finish from Toby, 4-1. We had some very good performances today, kept our shape reasonably well and defended better than in recent weeks. Well done to all, it was a good game. Spitfires have Purley Jubilee next week so will be looking to get some points on the board, good luck and keep going. Chin up Coach. Hurricanes have Eldon Celtic...ouch.
