11/1/2013, 6:26 AM Psalm 31 19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! 20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee The Odd Couple, Goodness And Fear Goodness we understand, and appreciate, but fear generally speaking is something we want to be liberated from, and stay liberated. The fear of God is a fear that fits right into goodness, even as there is a fear that is both natural, and healthy in our daily living of touching fire, or handling anything sharp. Fire, and sharpness, can be very helpful when used rightly, but when abused we suffer the consequences. God help us to fear God which is the beginning of wisdom, He already allowed Himself to be humiliated, and murdered for you, and me, the last thing we want to do is add insult to that. To add to the hurt, and insult that our sins have already added to Him needs to be the most distasteful thing we can think of. Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. 14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength. Which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! ALWAYS REMEMBER A RULE FOR THE SCRIPTURE You cant move forward without looking back, context is vital to the whole, as it is what will make us, and keep us whole. Who is the them of this verse? Those in the goodness, fear, and trust of the Lord before men. Trust must never be silent, or hidden, but it must always be humble, sensitive, and responsive. 20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. Gods Presence Has Everything To Do With Our Preservation The presence of God means everything to the child of God, as it is a foretaste of His glory divine. To be without His presence is hell. His presence is not in religion, or in denominational names, it is in Jesus Christ, and His all powerful name. His presence is our direction (Exodus 33:15,16) His presence a present help in the time of trouble (2 Chronicles 20:9) His presence is, and holds fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11) His presence is our dwelling place (Psalm 140:13) His presence establishes His fear among the nations (Isaiah 64:2) Thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. Shut in with God in a secret place, there in the Spirit beholding Your face, gaining new power to run in Gods race, I long to be shut in with God. This is vital in God, we must escape the distractions and the attractions if we are to know, and practice the presence of God. Lord Jesus let it be so in us, and through us to the point that it will be contagious. In Jesus mighty name, Amen
