11/1/2014 Today we rode 57.9miles TOTAL MILES 1898.9 miles STILL ONLY 1 DAY OF RAIN Jupiter to Ft. Lauderdale Beach. We woke up to another clear blue sky with plenty of sun and a north west wind at our backs to push us through our day. We started by heading south on A1A along the beach. The road was filled with joggers and cyclists getting in their Saturday morning exercise. We could not see the beach from our side of the road but the homes on our side were absolutly georgeous. As we were passing through Juno beach we heard a loud exhaust noise to our right. We did a double take. It was a white Lamborghini with dark blue stripes marked with dark blue lettering POLIZIA , with led police lights on the roof. It had Florida plates on it so I can only assume it was purchased in Italy and shipped to the U S. The car sounded like it should be on a race track instead of the road. Thats the kind of money in this neighborhood. As we continued we rode on Jack Nicholas Blvd. past the Lost Tree Golf Course. Florida has what we call pocket parks where there are tables, a path to walk on, shade trees and restrooms that are clean, in working condition and never locked. Imagine finding that in N J. As we were getting off the island and riding into Riveria Beach the area became somewhat depressed and a little sketchy. After about a miles we made a left turn and were into another nice community. We found another park. This one with boat ramps, and parking for free, a clean working bathroom, tennis courts, and walking paths along the water. Why cant we have this in the state I live in. We passed a port that had basically everything we use in life being shipped into the U S or out. We saw a train being loaded and were pretty sure the trains that kept us awake in Cocoa originated here. As we continued toward South Palm Beach we started seeing multi milion dollar home with huge yachts parked at their docks. Not you run of the mill boats. These were 6 and 7 figure type boats. One more beautiful than the other. About this time a local cyclist pulled up and started asking questions about our trip. He also had done some touring in the past. He questioned where we were coming from and if we rode through certain areas. Apparently we were riding through the poor rich area as opposed to the rich rich area. The rich rich area is homes in the $20 million range, where we were was probably 3-5 million range. We continued through Delray Beach and Boca Raton where the wind picked up to about 20-30 mph coming out of the north west. This is good if your heading south. Our day ended in Ft Lauderdale Beach after accumulating 57.9miles. Tomorrow we head to Florida City through Miami where we will meet up with our wives.
