11.20.13_Daily Devotion “The Joy of Living in My Fathers House!” John 14:2-3 “In my Fathers house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” By Dr. M.H. Salahshurian, Ph. D The Lord Jesus clearly stated in John 16:33 that, “...In this world ye shall have tribulations...” And, this seems more so, as the days are drawing near! For this reason, not only He gave the promise of His return to His disciples and unto the believers today in John 14:2-3, He gave us an additional signs of His return. The principle listed for us in John 20:6-7 is profound! John 20:6-7 “Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.” Pay close attention to V-7, “And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.” The question is, why? Why the “Napkin,” was wrapped together separately in a place by itself? How sad, the Jewish leaders missed this sign! According to Jewish tradition, if the head of the household, (a master), was finished with his meal, he would wad up (roll into a bundle), his napkin and toss it on the table. If he folded his napkin neatly and lay it aside, that meant he was NOT finished, and will return to finish! To me, the Lord Jesus left us a clear clue that He is returning, He is telling us He is NOT finished, He is returning! WHAT A BLESSED HOPE FOR THOSE WHO ARE WAITING FOR HIS RETURN! TO ME, THIS IS A MOMENT FOR SHOUTING! JOHN 20:7 “And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.” cf. JOHN 14:2-3. theswordandshield
