11/20/2014 - Barry County Prosecutor: No criminal wrongdoing at Animal Shelter - WBCH 100.1 FM Radio No charges will be filed in response to Carlton Township resident Elden Shellenbargers complaint against the Barry County Animal Shelter alleging cruel and inhumane treatment of the animals and hoarding. Hastings Police Chief Jeff Pratt said Thursday that after a complete investigation of the alleged wrongdoing at the Barry County Animal Shelter, the Hastings Police Department has received word from the Barry County Prosecutor that there will be no criminal charges as a result of the investigation. I would like to commend Detective (Eric) Ingram on a very thorough and comprehensive investigation in the above complaint, Barry County Prosecutor Julie Nakfoor-Pratts report said. After a review of the documents provided by Detective Ingram, I do not find any criminal wrongdoing. Needless to say I am happy with the results of the investigation, said Shelter Director Diana Newman. On behalf of all of us who work with the animals, we appreciate the support we received during this time. We will continue to work to improve all aspects of the shelter environment, especially those focusing on adoption and rescue for our animals. Jean Gallup
