11/24/1943: SS-Sturmbannfuehrer Hartjenstein informs the members of the SS garrison that according to Garrison Command No. 53/43 of 11/22/1943, he is Commandant of Birkenau, He also states that the Protective Custody Commander of the mens camp is SS-Obersturmführer Schwarzhuber and the Protective Custody Commander of the womens camp is SS-Obersturmführer Hoessler.
