11-6-2014 THE OUTRAGEOUS COST OF MEDICAL CARE Look at your medical bills. The monies issued to the provider is far less than the amount billed. Why is that? An archaic practice of averaging the increase in charges into the existing rates. For a provider to get $100 he charges $500. The real charge is $100. The provider signs contracts with the insurers to not charge anyone less than what is charged the insurer. Therefore anyone getting advice gets the $500 charge. Woe be to the uninsured. Its a racket folks. In a free market system say your knee hurts. You go to a doctor of choice. He looks at you, gives a prescription, you pay $50 or so and go about your business. No paperwork, no BS, forms, no copay, no worry. Seeing a doctor should be no more complicated than getting an oil change or a visit to the hairdresser or a small basket of groceries. In the desire to have someone else pay we have constructed a monstrous unwieldy corrupt system. It is time to return to the free market. Remember socialism reduces productivity and increases demand.
