11 August 2014 TEHRAN – Iranian Oil Minister, Bijan Namdar Zanganeh says the country does not need to import natural gas from Turkmenistan. “However, Iran is importing Turkmen gas just because it is important to promote political and economic relations with Turkmenistan,” the Shana news agency quoted Zanganeh as saying on Monday. Iran plans to boost natural gas production by 200 million cubic meters in the Iranian calendar year 1394 (March 2015-March 2016) and will no longer need to import gas from Turkmenistan, he added. Iran exports machinery, construction materials, sedans, buses, food, agricultural goods, petrochemical and electrical products and home appliances to Turkmenistan while importing natural gas, electricity, textiles and agricultural products from its northern neighbor. tehrantimes/economy-and-business/117586-no-need-to-import-turkmen-gas-iran-says
