11 July 1924- -Harvey, the 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Griggs, had his right hand quite painfully burned by a premature explosion or the overloading of an old and rusty toy cannon on the Fourth. As the burns did not seem to be serious, though very painful, they were dressed at home and no serious thought given the matter until the next day, when Harvey developed considerable fever, a warning symptom of tetanus, when he was taken to Dr. C. F. Burkhalter who dressed the injury after having taken a large quantity of powder from under the skin, since which time Harvey has been doing nicely.
