11 TENETS OF PROGRESSIVISM, as per Sen. Elizabeth Warren : Whats amazing about many of these is that there is no clear connection between the first part of each tenet and the second part. Heres one example: We believe in science, and that means that we have a responsibility to protect this Earth. This makes no sense. Science is a process, not a fixed set of beliefs. And science deals with is, not ought. It doesnt make moral or political policy commands. So what is this former Harvard professor talking about? If science doesnt tell you what to do, only what is happening, how can she say she believes in it and that it means we should save the earth? And how can she believe in science. Science is about proof, not faith. There are endless problems here. Perhaps we are not meant to treat her statements as logical or literal. Maybe they are just shorthand riffs from the liberal catechism. Still it does show what an unwieldy coalition progressivism is these days. Sen. Warren has shout-outs to greens, feminists, unions, pensioners and gay-rights activists. Could all of them peaceably share a Thanksgiving turkey? Maybe Warrens thinking is incoherent because her coalition is.
