11 THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT WALTER SISULU WSUs South African Students Congress (SASCO) recently celebrated the life and times of the the legend whose name the institution proudly bears. Students from the Potsdam Site packed the auditorium to pay tribute to the legend during a Memorial Lecture led by MPL and ANC Chief Whip in the EC Legislature Mzoleli Mrara. Mraras chronicling of Sisulus life, at the height of his powers, raised a few eyebrows about a man whom many thought was an open book. Here are 11 facts you might not have known about Walter Sisulu: 1) His mother was a black domestic worker, whilst his father was white and worked in the railway sector in the then Cape Colony 2) His father paid damages for ineligible impregnation of Sisulu’s mother (as is Xhosa custom) 3) He was an ardent horse-rider and could ride calves in rodeo-style 4) Only studied until standard 4 (maximum study for black person in royal English schooling was standard 6) Click here to read more: bit.ly/SisuluMemorial
