1177- Un comentari en anglès sobre les diferències que va trobar lautor entre ingenieria i historia: En relació al post Well lets see. I had a classical Jesuit high school, Undergraduate in the History of Technology , Studied Law, developed the field of law and technolgy at my university and ended up as Professor in the Engineeirng School. 1) Engineers and historians do not study in the same way. In most undergraduate classes engineering students opinions are not valued. They are there to learn what is known and taught. Ask a typical engineering student an open ended people oriented question with no right answer and you tend to get a very blank look. Herbert Hoover was a fine engineer. Engineers are creative folks who can build bridges and factories and buildings. They can also build disasters. 2) In a good history program our ignorance of what really happened in the past is emphasized , along the desire to shed some kind of light in the darkness. Our tools are weak and our data is poor, but we press on. Engineeers and Historians are simply not the same kind of people. They dont study or think the same way. We need both to survive.
