12/10/2014 - 10:30 PM - UPDATE Just got in from doing some Christmas shopping with Melanie, Abby and Drew. Val had quite a day. After I got there I was starting to adjust the back of his wheelchair and the CNA was in front of him. All of a sudden she was say, Mr. Val, Mr. Val, Mr. Val - then she said Miss Donna you need to get someone in here. I go running down the hall to the nurses station and said, someone needs to come check on Val. 5 nurses took off. He was staring straight ahead and unresponsive. Julia, CNA, said his eyes had rolled back - seizure? Jenny, nurse supervisor, told me to get a cold washcloth. Val was sweaty and clammy. I started shaking his hand and calling his name and he was not responsive for close to 5 minutes - it seemed like an hour. They took his blood pressure it was 78/51. Heritage called the Dr and they gave him 250ML of saline. They took his blood pressure every 15 minutes for about an hour. They got him in bed with his feet up. They planned to put a catheter in to see if he wasnt urinating enough and to check for UTI. Every time the nurse came in to do this something else was going on. Our minister came to visit and OT and PT were there. She decided she would do this after he had his dinner. He didnt want his lunch when it came. Later, I warmed it up and he ate every bite. Travis came in to see his Dad and since he was there I decided to go ahead and leave a little after 4. I had plans to meet Melanie and Christmas shop. Val was feeling much better. When OT and PT worked with him each time he did something they took his blood pressure. It would drop a little each time, but not back to scary low. The nurse called Athens Regional to see if they were still going to his surgery. As long as his BP stays good tonight and in the morning - its on. We have to be there at 6:30. So I have to get up at 4:30 to get ready and be there at 6. Please pray for success tomorrow and me to be able to get up and get going. Good night! Thank you Lord for your many blessing.
