12/30/2014: Animal Protection of New Mexico’s Straw Fund, a partnership with the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, has ensured the availability of insulating straw for any backyard doghouse or other outdoor shelter in the city or county. The Straw Fund helped over 600 animals stay warm in 2014. Straw is effective, inexpensive insulation—just one $7 bale can help keep three animals warm, so small contributions go a long way toward providing wintertime protection for companion animals living outdoors.
