12/5/2014 - 10:30 PM - UPDATE Just got home from Melanie and Brets celebrating Melanies birthday. As I sat down to write the update, I heard 2 bangs at my french doors. I called Melanie and the boys came over to check it out. Couldnt find anything, but saw a bat fly off in the yard. While they were there I got them to help take my Christmas boxes back to the basement and move my dining room table into its Christmas spot. They were hoping to find something on the deck - not me! Val had a really good day today. When I got there I made sure he was ready to go to the Dr. PT came in and he sat up on the side of the bed and then he stood and walked from his room down the hall (about 20 feet). He did much better on the carpet than he has in the past. They took him to the front hall and he walked 60 feet twice with a rest between and some assist. I did get to see this because the Drs office called to change his appointment. Dr. Medders had to perform surgery - going Monday at 10:15. This means I have to get up earlier and get myself moving. After his lunch, we had visitors (Ron and Lee Rogers) and they brought Val a chocolate milkshake from Steak N Shake - he loved it. PT and OT came in together to work on standing from the wheelchair to sitting on the potty and back. He did much better today than yesterday. He was proud of himself and so was I. We called Melanie and sang Happy Birthday to her. Travis came by this afternoon and Val proud to tell him how well he had done today. Nothing from insurance yet. Im going to have to follow up on this. I just had to give my brain a break from all of this. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. They keep us going. Thank you Lord for your many blessings. We praise you for the progress Val has made and continues to make.
