12 Even though a sinner might commit a hundred crimes and still live a long time, yet I know that it will go well with God-fearing people - for they stand in fear before him. 13 But it will not go well with the wicked, nor will they prolong their days like a shadow, because they do not stand in fear before God. Eccl 8:12-13 13 Having heard everything, I have reached this conclusion: Fear God and keep his commandments, because this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God will evaluate every deed, Eccl 12:13-14 Therefore, proper fear of the Lord should include the following: (a) a reverence and awe; (b) being afraid to offend God in any way; and (c) a trembling and a quaking if one knows that he has offended God and has not obtained forgiveness God longs for us to fear Him. “O that there were such an heart in them that they would fear Me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!” Deu. 5:29. Why? Because a fear of God causes us to keep God’s commandments and veer away from sinning. The result is that we are blessed and our children also.
