12 Monkeys starts tonight on Syfy! Based on the film of the same name... wait, based on the film? But thats TWENTY YEARS AGO! I think its an excellent film, but as spin offs go, this is a little late, no? James Cole (no longer played by Bruce Willis) is a time traveller from 2043 who comes back to the present day to stop the start of a virus that has wiped out most of the worlds population. While the film ends with [SPOILERS] the virus still able to be released, Cole is seen to die, which kinda makes an ongoing series slightly difficult. Except! Time travel shenanigans! Expect lots of these! Whether this will make the show more interesting or not is still to be seen. Either way, I like that Syfy is getting back into scripted shows about actual sci-fi; theres another couple of series later this year that already look interesting. Oh, and Helix returns right after with its second season. Are you looking forward to 12 Monkeys? Will you be watching? Is this show too late?
