12 Things You May or May Not Know About The Renner... 1. I was born August 25, 1964 at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Hannibal, Mo. Actor Blair Underwood was born the exact same day, and I also share birthdays with Billy Ray Cyrus, Jo Dee Messina, Rachael Ray, Regis Philbin, Leonard Bernstein, Van Johnson, Monty Hall and Elvis Costello. 2. I was attacked by an Afghan hound at age 10, and to this day I get chills when a large dog approaches. The dog belonged to the city marshal down the block from my house; I would have probably been shredded wheat had my dad not come along and thrown me into the ditch. 3. My radio career came out of a love for some of the classic DJs and country radio stations that seemed to blare from our radio 24/7. My career actually started my senior year of high school through Ray Watt of KLCQ in Monroe City inviting my journalism class to produce five-minute weekly high school newscasts--The South Shelby Redbird Report. 4. I got my air name The Renner by accident; I was in bed sick one day in my dorm room at college when I heard my roommate, Chris Tabron, talk to somebody on the phone about his work at the food service at the dorms cafeteria. At one point he said, Nobody works for The Tabron. That stuck for whatever reason and I used it for 28 years in commercial radio. I almost didnt get to use it in Mexico. 5. Im claustrophobic, however... 6. I LOOOVE heights! I have been to the top of Clingmans Dome in Tennessee and Pikes Peak in Colorado; I have also been up the CN Tower in Toronto, at the time North Americas tallest freestanding tower. 7. The very first real country star I ever met was Freddie Hart in 1975 at the Matco store in Macon; I was almost 11. Since then I figure I have attended around 350 concerts. Some people I know have never attended any. 8. I have broken both elbows, my right forearm, my right tibia, both ankles and my right great toe at various times. In contrast, my cousin Loreta had never broken a bone in all her 93 years. 9. I am terribly afraid of bats...the flying kind. 10. I have a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communications from Truman State University. 11. I do not eat eggs, mushrooms or shellfish...shrimp are okay. Western omelettes, however...out of the question. 12. I just recently finished a major remodeling project on my childhood home, and will soon be moving back to Clarence.
