12 Years a Slave??? Are there mind games, being played in Hollywood or is this just about the dollar? Does this glorifies escapism over activism, which is a popular dogma nowadays among many blacks? So often, to get some meat with those potatoes, mean you need to step out of mainstream America. When Steve McQueen was filming a movie, in Chicago, some years back, I had a chance to meet with him I felt a very cocky & stuck up man, with the brief conversation we had. I refused to go along with people blanket opinions, people that were with me stated that Steve McQueen had very negative views, of Blacks. I dont think that his views, of the African American community, as we live today, is relevant to the production of this movie. However, I may be wrong. This is a great article because it gives an opinion and stir the waters on escapism and activism for those who understand the struggles of African Americans, of the United States.
