12 odd years ago, I was set to play with Dee Dee Ramone and The Dictators in the same week. Dee Dee with the Angry Samoans and The Dictators with Backbiter. Unfortunately, Dee Dee died days before the show. I was bummed on many levels, especially not getting to meet the guy responsible for a major epiphany in my life. The show went on with the Angry Samoans headlining and we were legally blocked from calling it a Dee Dee tribute in any way shape or form, though we went ahead and closed the show with a half dozen Ramones songs. The stage was immediately flooded with Ramones fans as soon as we started that part of the set. We got the bouncers to not kick the kids off the stage (most were probably not kids, but there were a bunch of kids too).
