12 representatives from the Indigenous Kalash tribe of Chitral will visit India from January 27th to Feb 5th. The delegation will participate in “International conference and elders gathering “organized by International Center for cultural studies. The Kalash community once majority of Lower Chitral region and neighboring areas are now a small minority living in three valleys of District Chitral. The community is world famous for its ancient traditions, culture, religion and language. They are also called descendants of a tribe who accompanied Alexander the great during his conquest of Asia. Some historians describe the Kalash as indigenous and pure Aryan. The Kalash religion is also an ancient form and is celebrated by the followers through different rituals and sacrifices throughout the year. Many Sanskrit traditions and terminologies are used in Kalasha language. The names of religious symbols in Kalasha also express relation with Sanskrit. We wish the delegates a very good luck and hope that they will enjoy the tour of India and bring back good memories....Luke Rehmat..and Others are Going..
