12 years a slave...a brilliant movie but definitely not for the faint-hearted...this is a true story based on the book 12 years a slave written by Solomon Northup himself. Some scenes are quite disturbing (for instance the one where Patsey is whipped brutally). Chiwetel Ejiofor (who plays Solomon Northup) is exceptional in his portrayal of the atrocities and hardships that he goes through as a black slave...he is so real and believable that you cant help but cry when he is exploited time and again. But the star performer is Lupita Nyongo (who plays Patsey)..she will grow up to be a brilliant actress..she is too good! Definitely worth a watch...4 out of 5 stars from me!
