12 yr old Reg. Paint Mare (Breeding Stock) sorrell with wide - TopicsExpress

12 yr old Reg. Paint Mare (Breeding Stock) sorrell with wide blaze, and one white sock (rear leg) and polka dots on her neck and head. I got this mare 3 weeks ago from an elderly man who could no longer take care of her due to health reasons, he had owned her for several years and was kept in a small pasture and was underweight and in need of TLC. She is broke to ride but hadnt been ridden in a long time, I have rode her several times and she has done well. She seems to have retained what she was taught, she is just out of shape. She has an incredible bloodline! On the top she is out of The Investor, a world champion halter stallion and Country Girl, both producers of nice horse which includes Big Chex. On the bottom she is Impressive, also another halter champion. Her head is wide and dipped in with an elegant neck. She stands 14.3 and currently weighs about 970 and is still a little underweight to me but she has been started back slowly because the she was not getting anything at her prior owners. She has been wormed, she is currently barefooted, on free choice minerals and hay, feed twice a day grain. Her tempermant is very gentle, I have seen no kick or bite towards me or another horse. She could use a lesson in ground manners, she doesnt mind bumping up against you and Im not fond of that I like for the horse to respect my space and have been working on this and she is improving. Her papers are at APHA being transferred over to me, but I do have a copy of them. Here is my dilema and reason for selling her, I dont have a lot of pasture and have another horse and pony. My husband doesnt ride and has a fear of horse, I respect that and although he helps me as best he can its a lot of work feeding, getting one horse out and keeping the others back. Im realizing that all my free time is being spent mucking stalls and trying to excercise all of them and its takes the fun out it when its just me trying to do all this. The photo of her saddled was taken yesterday after I rode her and my phone went dead after the first shot, the other is a photo of her a few years ago when she was in shape and before her last owner neglected her. This photo was sent to me by her original breeder. She has potential to look like again, she is just wooly with a winter coat now and needs a few pounds on her. Text is my preferred method of contact, and if you need additional photos I can send them. No hernias, parrot mouth of any other problems and I was told she is HYPP N/N and her sire is 5 panel negative. She ties, loads, stands for grooming, picks up front feet well and we are working on the rear. Located in Southern Virginia. $1350
