13 12 1933 - 31 08 2014 this period of over 80 years is the golden era of Telugu and Hindi Film Industry. Sattiraju Laxminarayana, (Popularly known as BAPU) passed away, to join his close friend Mullapudi Venkata Ramana. Starting with his SAAKSHI in 1971, Bapu had directed so many telugu masterpieces. Mutyala Muggu is one gem of a picture. Andala Ramudu is another moovy, which was so successful among Telugu audience, Sri Rama Rajayam being his last movie. He was described as Amara Silpi Jakkana of Telugu film industry. Sita Kalyanam is another master piece. Bhakta Kannappa is my favorite picture, His loss is irreparable. He earned so many accolades as a an artiste, painter, director. He was a multi faceted personality, known for his simplicity. He is known for his devotion to the Lord Sri Rama. One lady writer wanted to write Ramayana Visha Vriksham and wanted Bapu to draw the cover page for her proposed book and sent him a blank cheque, requesting him to fill up any amount as his remuneration. But Bapu was not willing to do that work as the book was against Sri Ram. So he wrote Sri Rama on the entire cheque several times, without leaving any gap coveing the cheque throughout and returned the same cheque to the lady who offered him that blank cheque. Bapu is a man of deeds but not words. His cartoons will speak volumes for him. He is man known as conquest of mind over matter, simplicity over vainglorious flashiness and as a man of principles and frankness. May his soul rest in peace.
