13 Fighters representing Team FKP MMA brought home 9 Medals (4 Gold - 5 Silver) at todays grappling portion of the Western Canadian Championships held at BCIT. Jayden Martin - Gold Medal (submits all of his opponents winning the Gold) Maria Demers - Gold Medal (submits all of her opponents winning the Gold) Gino Guzzo - Gold Medal David Chen - Gold Medal (submits 2 of his 4 opponents) Andy Tieu - Silver Medal Austin Poonia - Silver Medal Rajan Mann - Silver Medal Juan Alvarez - Silver Medal (submits 2 of his 4 opponents) Noah Kew - Silver Medal Honourable mention goes to Mathew Walden, Joshua, Sachin Poonia, Neil Sanpedro and Erica Demers. Joshua and Erica seem to be at a stage in their lives where there put up against competitors who not only out weigh them but are a foot (or two) taller. They had several matches where they fell short but definitely not from technique but because they were literally fighting kids twice their size. Their time will come and when it does watch out because they are amazing. Mathew grappled a pro MMA fighter in his first ever grappling match and went to a draw! Neil and Sachin were equally impressive in their own back to back bouts. They may not have placed but gained tons of experience and put in a great show! Jayden Martin was on fire destroying everybody he faced by submission claiming the Gold. Maria tapped out 4 opponents in a row! Extremely impressive showing from both of my employees of FKP MMA. Definitely practicing what their preaching. Team FKP MMA rocked the house and will be ready to do so again in tomorrows Kickboxing bracket. BTW special shout out for assisting me in the corner goes to Dan The Samurai Lin. Thank you for making my job much easier. Lets get ready for the kickboxing bracket. Peace CF
