13. INSPECTORS/INVESTIGATION OFFICERS. REF: NCA/13/02/2013 (4 Positions) The Position Reporting to the General Manager – Registration, Compliance & Training, the job holders will be responsible for inspecting and reporting on, civil, structural, building, electrical, mechanical works etc to ensure that contractors, skilled construction workers, and construction site supervisors engaged are registered by the National Construction Authority Key Responsibilities; Conduct inspection on civil, structural, building, electrical and mechanical works with a view of advising the Authority on any action to be taken. Review all correspondences between the architect, engineer and the contractor for cases under investigation or suspicion. Investigate complaints and suspicion that a person/firm/contractor has acted contrary to terms in the Authority’s code of conduct. Verify that the authority has jurisdiction and reasonable ground to investigate complain or suspicion. Inform the authority of findings from investigations and recommend action to be taken. Obtain evidence to determine whether the Authority may take action against the person/firm implicated. Establish and maintain all files of contractor’s daily reports for cases under investigation or suspicion. Verify contractor compliance with Authority code of conduct and regulations. To detect errors in construction projects. Provide information and respond to inquiries from contractors, property owners or staff. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director. Qualifications, Experience, Competencies; A Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or Quantity Surveying from a recognized university. Minimum of Five (5) years relevant experience. Thorough knowledge of construction industry practices. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a professional working relationship with architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and the general public. Excellent time and work management skills Excellent decision making abilities.
