13 May 1981: Eric Guiney, 45-year-old Protestant civilian, married with 4 children was from Old Irish Highway, Rathcoole died from his injuries he received on 7 May when a mob attacked his milk lorry during rioting after the death of Bobby Sands. Mr Guineys 14-year-old son, Desmond, died on 7 May from injuries he received when his fathers milk lorry went out of control and crashed. Mr Guiney never regained consciousness and was buried in the same grave as his son. A Church of Ireland minister said at Mr Guineys funeral: we have come to express our deep sympathy and sorrow for Mrs Guiney and her family. To lose a husband and a son within a matter of days, in such a dreadful way, hardly bears thinking about, and she and her children deserve all the help we can give them. LEST WE FORGET!
