13 RANDOM FACTS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME*: 1. I was part of an all-female singing group comprised of 5 models of different ethnicities and we released a hit single in Germany. I can sing the hook in German. 2. As a child, I stole packets of Buttercrunch cookies from the local bodega every so often. Dont judge me...they were delicious. 3. I, along with 5 other 3rd graders, won 1st prize in our schools talent show for singing Do Re Mi from the Sound Of Music. I still have the trophy and Ive never seen the movie. 4. I learned to swim this year, at the age of 45. 5. I used to feel sorry for our push cart (we used it to go grocery shopping and to go to the laundromat in our building...you have to be a city kid to know what Im talking about) and I would carry it up and down the stairs because I thought it could use the break. 6. I have spoken before Congress. 7. I was 25 when I was featured in a fashion spread in Seventeen Magazine. 8. I am a first at something. I was the first black woman signed to a contract with Maybelline cosmetics. 9. When I was 7 years old, I had a marble notebook with scotch-taped strands of my friends hair in it. Each strand had each friends name next to it. I know. Weird. I cant explain this one. 10. I once drowned a mouse in our bathtub. I was 9, my parents werent home, and I did what I had to do to protect my younger sister and I. It was trying to climb out of the tub and it was either him/her or me. 11. I was once kidnapped by a now former record executive in Paris. Ok, kidnapped is a strong word. He would probably say that he was surprising me by taking me to lunch. But Im from the Bronx and he was seconds away from getting shanked had we not pulled up to the restaurant. I AM SO SERIOUS. 12. My maiden name is Tomiko Tyesse Fraser. Each name has 6 letters in it...666. I was in the 6th grade when an older student pointed this out to me. At first it scared me, but eventually I thought it was pretty cool. 13. I used to have an imaginary friend named Mary Lou who lived in my bedroom closet. My younger sister used to be jealous of her. I wonder what happened to Mary Lou. I may have to look her up. *I am not playing this game by the rules. I wasnt given the #13 because I liked someone elses random facts post.
